[:en]The inflammatory response of interleukin-17 plays an upstream role in the inflammatory response of T cells. Interleukin-17 is mainly responsible for the activation of Th17and stimulation a variety of cytokines and growth factors. These can induce the expression of  IL-6、IL-8、G-GSF and the expression of chemical cytokines, causing cell invasion and tissue destruction to complete the inflammatory response. In different inflammatory disease environments, interleukin-17may have different effects and mechanisms.

  1. Interleukin-17 and inflammatory bowel disease

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), a kind of unclear pathogenesis of chronic intestinal nonspecific inflammatory diseases, includes ulcerative colitis and crohn’s disease. IBD is a complex disease caused by a variety of causes, and its exact pathogenesis is still unclear. In a large extent, the abnormal regulation of the inflammatory response of the intestinal tract is associated with the activity enhancement or expression of some anti-inflammatory factors. Researchers used interleukin 17 (IL-17) ELISA kit (GLORY SCIENCE CO., LTD, Product NO: 10082) to determine the IBD patients, the increase of IL-17 was found to be positively correlated with the severity of the disease, indicating that IL-17played an important role in intestinal immunological tissue injury.

2. Interleukin-17 and respiratory inflammatory disease

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a pulmonary disease that causes respiratory failure due to limited airflow, increased lung residues and emphysema. Chronic inflammation of the respiratory tract plays an important role in the pathogenesis and development of COPD. In recent years, the study found that patients with COPD disease process, the levels of IL-17 increased significantly, that Th17 is involved in the pathogenesis of COPD. The possible pathogenesis is in the process of its pathogenesis, IL-8, TNF alpha, granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factor (granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor, GM-GSF) and intercellular adhesion molecule protein molecules promote the mobilization of neutrophils, and lead to inflammation. IL-17 has the effect of stimulation of IL -8, GM-GSF and TNF-α, amplifying the inflammatory response, so it is speculated that IL-17 may play a role in the formation of COPD respiratory inflammation.


IL-17 as a proinflammatory factor, mainly produced by a new type of Th17, its biological characteristics and function is more and more emphasized, especially in the clinical diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease and tumor. The content of interleukin 17 (IL-17) in serum, plasma and related liquid samples could be determined by the clinical application of interleukin 17 (IL-17) ELISA kit (GLORY SCIENCE CO., LTD, Product NO: 10082).[:]
